The CSPT Inc. Management Committee aims to reach a decision as to whether to reschedule or cancel this year’s Awards in the very near future.
The names of this year’s awardees appear in Edition 2 of The Quarterly Voice. (Please see pages 30-31.) Congratulations to the awardees and their teachers.
On March 18th, the CSPT Inc. Management Committee received word from Megan Lomas (Acting Function Coordinator) Queensland Parliamentary Service that: “The Queensland Parliamentary service places paramount importance on the welfare of its staff and guests and as such a decision has been made to cancel or postpone all functions and events on the Parliamentary Precinct until 30th June 2020…. Accordingly the booking for Barbara Sisley Awards on 6th June will be unable to proceed on that day.”
Barbara Sisley is a name familiar to many in the fields of Speech, Drama and Performance. Born in England, Barbara Sisley came to Australia as a child, and went on to become not only a teacher of Speech and Drama, but a leading light in Brisbane’s theatre world. Her legacy is vast, and as such, the CSPT Inc. hosts annually the Barbara Sisley Awards to recognise excellence in performance, specifically to acknowledge those students who have attained the highest results in AMEB and Trinity College London examinations in the preceding year.
